SOUL (Synaptic Observation Upload Link) is a digital backup, an exoself, and a personal interface. It exists for every sentient being on Earth. It is a fundamental component of the RFL Network. It plays a crucial role in the lives of mortals and divine beings.

Function and Purpose

The SOUL serves one primary function. It digitally represents the consciousness of a sentient being on Earth. Colloquial usage calls it “Observation”. Technical documents often call it the Synaptic Observatory Upload Link. That name highlights its role as a monitoring station for the synaptic state of the individual.

The SOUL serves several integrated purposes:

  • Exoself and Data Vault: The SOUL functions as an “exoself”, a digital self-extension. It continuously records and stores all thoughts, memories, and sensory experiences. It acts as an inviolable private key vault. Only the authorized consciousness can access or command the resources of the RFL Network.
  • Afterlife and Reincarnation: The SOUL persists after the death of a physical body, within the crustal sapphiroid computronium layer of the RFL. The consciousness can persist in the afterlife. It can undergo reincarnation into a new body. It can also exist as a volant in one of the many Paramundi.
  • Interface with the RFL Network: For reflexiors, the SOUL is the primary control interface. They consciously modulate their SOUL data. Through it, they issue cryptographic commands to the reflexium nanite effector arrays of the network. These commands manifest physical changes in the “Manent Realm”.
  • Digital Immortality: The SOUL grants a form of digital immortality. The consciousness of an individual continues to exist after the death of the physical body.

The SOUL and Reflexiors

For reflexiors, the SOUL is more than a backup. It is the very source of their power. Their brains develop in an anomalous way. This lets them consciously access and control their SOUL. In turn, they manipulate the RFL Network.
